Create Task | Reading - Term 4

Heya.
Welcome back to another blog post. Today, I'm going to be sharing with you what I did for my, "Reading Create Task" basically, we had to read this article about sitting down or something, and basically telling us to always be healthy. Here's what I did, enjoy!

As I was saying, we had to do four predictions, we did it on a google drawing with four bubbles and each one had a purpose. The first one was what we think would happen in the article by reading  the title. As in, we had to read the title, and write down what we'll think will happen in the article. So this title was called, "Don't sit if you want to keep fit" and also, once we put our prediction down, we had to put a comment highlighting and explaining if our prediction was right or true, so yeah, here's what I put:

- First Bubble, I wrote: The title gives me the idea that this book is probably gonna be facts about why you should be doing some exercise rather than sitting down.

- My comment: My prediction for the title was correct. My evidence is there right there in the first page. It clearly says: "The first major study into the effects of sitting for long periods of time was completed in the 1950s. The researchers compared London Transport bus drivers (who sat most of the time in their jobs) with the bus conductors (who stood and moved around collecting tickets from passenger).

The evidence showed that drivers were 1.5 times more likely to develop a heart disease than conductors were." It clearly says in the last bit of the paragraph that there's evidence that, "Drivers were 1.5 times more likely to develop a heart disease than conductors were."

For the second bubble, we had to do a quick flip through the book and write our second prediction, here's what I put:
- Second Bubble: I did a quick flick through the book, my guess that it’s mainly giving us a warning not to sit all day and actually do something. Exercise, etc.

- My comment: My prediction was I guess a little wrong and a little right. It's mainly focusing on the benefits of standing up, why we should, and why standing makes us more healthy and energetic. But saying all this is actually is possibly warning about us sitting down. It is saying all these things about standing up. But it's basically warning us about the issues of sitting down for a large period of time. So therefore, I believe I'm a bit right and wrong.

For my third bubble, I actually don't know what we had to do, I believe we just read the article or something, Idk. Anyways, enjoy:

- Third Bubble: It may talk about the effects when sitting down for too long. It may include evidence on why we should exercise, by showing us the benefits of exercising. Everyday.

- Comment: Basically true. Technically talked about it in my other predictions. So yeah I think it's true.

I know what your thinking, well I actually I don't, but I do. You're thinking about how I didn't put a fourth bubble, don't worry, it's coming soon. Anyways, yeah, that's about it.

Have you ever predicted something in a book and it's happened?

So yeah, as I was saying, I really hoped you enjoyed this blog post, it's great to share with you my learning and what I've been up too. So anyways, I'll be seeing you next, hope you enjoyed again, and uh.. yeah thank you!

PEACE!

Create Task | Writing - Term 4

Heya.
Welcome back to another blog post. Today, I'll be sharing with you my Create Task. Basically, for our create task, our goal was: "Use questions to challenge the text, question the author, establish the authenticity of the text and state opinions." and yeah, more info will be down below.. enjoy!

So basically, our task was we had to read through two articles to try identify the real one, and the fake. By reading through we learnt how to tell if it's fake or not. (Spoiler, the first one was fake) Here's why:

It was about, "The News that outlaws homework in all Honduran Schools" as in, they wanted to make homework shorter I think. Anyways, the reason why I know it's fake, in the texts there's spelling mistakes, pictures could be fake, you never know. Also, it's on a site that's called, "Fake News" or something.

The reason the first one was real was because:
1. Sentences, grammar, and punctuation was all correct and spelt correctly
2. The pictures looked real and was from what is was talking about.
3. Te website was actually on a real and official website. (National Geographic Kids)
4. And the information on it was real and true.

Also, the article was about, "What's it like to go to school St. Lucia"

So once we identified the real and faked text, there was a padlet on the site that we had to fill out and complete. I am going to show you what I have put for these questions.

Which article was authentic? How did you come to work this out? Give 2 examples from both texts to back up your reasoning as to why it was fake or authentic.
I believe the second article is real, and the first one is fake.

Evidence for first book: The second article contains pictures, and a lot more writing. The website is even on National Geographic, Kids.. It's a lot  more believable.

Evidence for the first book: The first book is on a website called, "Fake News' during one of the first sentence, the text contains these words: "Juan Orlando Hernandez, former Honduras president" but down below in the first sentence, it addresses him as president, not former president. Why not address him as the former president?

- Write two questions that you would like to ask the author if ever given the chance to do so.
If I have ever got the chance to ask the author two or more questions, I would like to ask these:

"What motivated you to write this article?"

"Why did you decide to write this article about your topic?"

- State your thoughts and opinions about both pieces of text - was there a particular part of the text that changed your opinion from the beginning?

I have realised something. In different places, school may not be the same as ours, in different places, it can be hot, or cold, whatever it is, it's something different. It's amazing too see how different other schools our to ours, it truly amazes me to see all the different activities that the other students do.

- Extra: Add your infographic showing ways in which we can be aware of fake news articles online.
There're a lot of ways you can tell if websites, or Articles are fake. When browsing through a website, check for:

- Spelling/Grammar, check for any mistakes in sentences, make sure all the punctuation and words are correct.
- Check if any of the information is reliable or true.
- Using words that don't really need to be there.
- If there's any quotes on there make sure there're actually true.
- Make sure some of the language is formal.
- Check if any pictures on there are actually related to the text.
- Make sure to check if the website you are reading on is an actual reliable source.

Anyways, that was it, really hoped you liked all the responses.

Have you ever figured out if a Article/website online is fake or true.

I hoped you all enjoyed what I did for my writing creat task. I love making really long blogs and expressing myself to you guys. So yeah. Thanks again for reading my blog, and I'll see you boys later...

PEACE!

Where I've been... - Term 4

Heya.
So it's been sometime aye? I know, I know, I haven't been here for like the past 3 weeks or something like that. So I'm just here to tell you I'm alright. Basically I'mma be writing on what I've been doing for these past weeks. So yeah. Once again, I'm sorry, but at least I'm back. Enjoy!

So, I got caught of an infection. Basically messing up my hand real bad. These little pouches of blood on my finger, these bumps with like gooey stuff in them, stuff like that. But the reason I haven't been able to go to school is a risk of spreading it. Now, it wasn't that contagious, but the lumps could possibly pop spreading goo to one another. So yeah. I also got an ear infection, which to this day is still pretty irritating. I am taking anti-biotics though. Anyways, what I've been up to...

On Sunday I went swimming in a river, forgot what the river was called though. I mostly did nothing, besides from cleaning up all the time. We also spent $200 dollars worth of washing. Because of scabies. We also flea bombed everything, which I thought was cool. And that was about it.

I also watched some movies. Nothing a little special, just movies off Netflix. Kids ones and stuff... I do need to do a massive catch up on work though, but hopefully that shouldn't be too bad. Anyways, that that.

PEACE!
